About Me

🌾 Welcome to My Low‑Carb Life As of January 2026, I’ve started a new chapter: I recently began the GLP‑1 Wegovy pill to help me get back on track with my weight‑loss goals. Life has thrown its share of challenges my way, and I’ve gained back some of the weight I once worked so hard to lose — so this is my reset moment. My journey began in 2008, when my doctor warned me about rising blood pressure and challenged me to lose ten pounds in three months. I ended up losing 26. By 2011, life had shifted again, and I recommitted to the low‑carb lifestyle that helped me feel strong and steady. And today, I’m still committed — just with new tools, new wisdom, and a whole lot more grace for myself. I live just outside New Orleans, deep in sweet Cajun Country, where we hunt, fish, “make groceries,” and enjoy the simple things. I exercise three times a week and practice relaxing on the off days. My immediate goal is to lose 15 pounds, and I’m focused on moving forward with intention and consistency. So pull up a chair and stay a spell — this blog follows my low‑carb journey, my Southern roots, and now, my Wegovy pill adventure.

Out with the OLD, in with the NEW !!

January 2008 -- 164 Pounds

It will be 2 1/2 months since I started low-carb, .. Now I'm weighing in at 144 pounds, -- but when I put the pictures side by side its kinda scary !

LOL. I weigh in tomorrow (still hoping for more weight loss).
P.S. I am a 'vertically-challenged' gal of 5' 4"

Congratulations, BayouBabe!

That's fantastic. You look great!

BTW, I'm not sure if I'm reading too much into it but your more recent picture seems to have you in a happier place (a wider smile and happier eyes). Am I wrong?

I hope you continue moving closer to all your goals. :)

Take care!

Yes, you are correct, indeed ! What I did not mention was I went through three months of PAIN from June to August. Had a hysterectomy in August. I am still recovering from that. A LOT of the weight gain happened then. (Another story for another day.) Also, the Blood Pressure numbers were getting up there (the actual REASON for the low carb diet). Bayoubabe is a HAPPY GIRL nowadays :)

Thanks for your support !

NewVision stole the words right out of my mouth! My first thought when I looked at your pictures was how much younger you looked.

Good Job. Sounds like you are really making changes -mind and body - that will last.

Thanks for the link to the WebMD video also.

Cheers
