About Me

🌾 Welcome to My Low‑Carb Life As of January 2026, I’ve started a new chapter: I recently began the GLP‑1 Wegovy pill to help me get back on track with my weight‑loss goals. Life has thrown its share of challenges my way, and I’ve gained back some of the weight I once worked so hard to lose — so this is my reset moment. My journey began in 2008, when my doctor warned me about rising blood pressure and challenged me to lose ten pounds in three months. I ended up losing 26. By 2011, life had shifted again, and I recommitted to the low‑carb lifestyle that helped me feel strong and steady. And today, I’m still committed — just with new tools, new wisdom, and a whole lot more grace for myself. I live just outside New Orleans, deep in sweet Cajun Country, where we hunt, fish, “make groceries,” and enjoy the simple things. I exercise three times a week and practice relaxing on the off days. My immediate goal is to lose 15 pounds, and I’m focused on moving forward with intention and consistency. So pull up a chair and stay a spell — this blog follows my low‑carb journey, my Southern roots, and now, my Wegovy pill adventure.

Walkin Away the Pounds !! Exercising & Super Foods !!

Today , I exercised by doing a 4 mile walk to Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away the Pounds" Express.

This took about an hour. Anyone that can keep up with Leslie, is great in my book !

I ate at our local Chinese restaurant. It was a 'buffet' type meal, where you pick what you want to eat. I had a small slice of meatloaf, some of those steamed veggies, a couple of different kinds of chicken (that was not sweet or breaded), and a diet coke. My fortune cookie said for me to learn how to say the word "Doctor'' in Chinese. It also, instead of giving me a fortune, gave me great powerball numbers and said 'lady luck is on your side." So , of course, I had to purchase a lottery ticket, using those numbers. We'll see If I'm a millionaire before morning !

Eat Right!

Get Your Superfoods!

Looking for a way to get even more bang for your nutritional buck? Try these "superfoods"! They're loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients to help you feel great, and they even help fight disease! Incorporate them into your diet today!

Almonds: A source of "good" fat, almonds can help your heart by lowering bad cholesterol!

Berries: They're jammed with vitamins — particularly vitamin C — but new research has found these sweet little sensations to be ace disease fighters too, helping to prevent bladder infections and even cancers, among other illnesses.

Broccoli: Folate, vitamin C, calcium — broccoli is packed with all these awesome nutrients. Now researchers think it might also fight cancer!

Avocado: The large number of calories in a serving of avocado is totally worth it! This source of healthy fat contains a ton of vitamin K and potassium and is also associated with lower cholesterol and even the prevention of breast cancer!

Salmon: Low in calories, easy to prepare, and amazingly good for you — what's not to love about salmon? And the omega-3 fatty acids in salmon are great for your heart!

Olive oil: Another good fat! Besides making your food incredibly tasty, olive oil can also protect you from heart disease.

Green tea: So much research has touted the benefits of green tea, it's hard to know where to begin! But here's a sample: A Japanese study in 2006 showed that green tea lowered the risk of death from all causes. How's that for a superfood?

Good day, BayouBabe.

It's excellent that you're walking regularly. I need to start doing that!

I'm not much of a baker, low-carb or otherwise. So, I'm a bust when it comes to commenting on your bread-situation.

Maybe you can ask for guidance from Linda, on Jimmy Moore's forum. She's such a great resource when it comes to cooking/baking information.

In case you've never been, here's a link to her site:

Keep fighting the good fight!
