About Me

🌾 Welcome to My Low‑Carb Life As of January 2026, I’ve started a new chapter: I recently began the GLP‑1 Wegovy pill to help me get back on track with my weight‑loss goals. Life has thrown its share of challenges my way, and I’ve gained back some of the weight I once worked so hard to lose — so this is my reset moment. My journey began in 2008, when my doctor warned me about rising blood pressure and challenged me to lose ten pounds in three months. I ended up losing 26. By 2011, life had shifted again, and I recommitted to the low‑carb lifestyle that helped me feel strong and steady. And today, I’m still committed — just with new tools, new wisdom, and a whole lot more grace for myself. I live just outside New Orleans, deep in sweet Cajun Country, where we hunt, fish, “make groceries,” and enjoy the simple things. I exercise three times a week and practice relaxing on the off days. My immediate goal is to lose 15 pounds, and I’m focused on moving forward with intention and consistency. So pull up a chair and stay a spell — this blog follows my low‑carb journey, my Southern roots, and now, my Wegovy pill adventure.

Had to have it...

Last week, I decided to have it. You know something food-wise that you crave. For me it was HOT BREAD PUDDING. The smell in the supermarket overwhelmed the senses. When I got home I at half of the bread pudding. it was SO good. I even licked my fingers.

Later on that evening... I found out that TOO much sugar.. well, goes right through ya. I was sick for the entire next day.. Like a kid in a candy shop that ate too much...

Go figure.

-------------------------------------------------

Today I worked out for two hours at the gym. I had not worked out since my overload.. So it had been almost 5 days. It was slow going for sure. Now its everything in moderation. Food AND exercise.
Lunch : Subway Turkey and Ham Green Salad with Ranch Dressing.
Dessert : Strawberries and Whipped cream

My advice to yall is to NOT overdo eating. It may look and taste good... but sometimes too much of a good thing is NOT good. I know firsthand.

Please drop me a line and let me know how yall are doing.

Have a Blessed day !

Hey Jean,
I know the feeling, but ohhhhh its always sooooooo good while your eating it. I always have the swollen joints after a carb up too. That leaves me feeling miserable. Will I EVER learn???? Someday I hope. :(

Anyway, glad your back at it. Hang in there.

Good job getting back on track, BayouBabe. That's the key. We all make missteps from time to time - planned or otherwise. But 2 hours of exercise and a solid day's menu is a good kick start back in the right direction. Well done!

Yes, it was funny. I also remember hubby having a favorite shirt, you know the kind that you detest, but he thinks it is the best thing since sliced bread :)
