About Me

🌾 Welcome to My Low‑Carb Life As of January 2026, I’ve started a new chapter: I recently began the GLP‑1 Wegovy pill to help me get back on track with my weight‑loss goals. Life has thrown its share of challenges my way, and I’ve gained back some of the weight I once worked so hard to lose — so this is my reset moment. My journey began in 2008, when my doctor warned me about rising blood pressure and challenged me to lose ten pounds in three months. I ended up losing 26. By 2011, life had shifted again, and I recommitted to the low‑carb lifestyle that helped me feel strong and steady. And today, I’m still committed — just with new tools, new wisdom, and a whole lot more grace for myself. I live just outside New Orleans, deep in sweet Cajun Country, where we hunt, fish, “make groceries,” and enjoy the simple things. I exercise three times a week and practice relaxing on the off days. My immediate goal is to lose 15 pounds, and I’m focused on moving forward with intention and consistency. So pull up a chair and stay a spell — this blog follows my low‑carb journey, my Southern roots, and now, my Wegovy pill adventure.

Low Carb Dieting on Vacation -- Hello San Antonio, TX !!!

Greetings, from Texas, where everything is BIGGER, including the FOOD ! Yes, this weary traveler finally found her hotel in San Antonio.. and am happy to see the exercise room AND swimming pool !!

Time to cool off AND work off those extra carbs eaten today.

For breakfast, I ate eggs and Sausage. I had a nice apple and yogurt thingy from Mc Donald's as an inbetween snack. For lunch, was an appetizing grilled chicken salad. I miss my Coke Zero, but am much appreciative of the Diet coke.

Our family is settling in now. I hope to post more as the day progresses.

Please post your dieting tips for eating on vacation.

Have a Blessed Day !

My top tip is to keep healthy LC snacks on hand - nuts, for instance. Also, don't be shy ... ask for food substitutions while eating out.

Example: If you order a chicken dish that typically comes with mashed potatoes ... ask the waiter if you can have another side instead - maybe something you've seen elsewhere on the menu such as asparagus or spinach.

Have fun on your time away! :-)

Thanks for the tips, Harry. We're right next to a Marie Callendar's. Boy, the menu look absolutely appetizing...

I exercised in the pool doing water aerobics for about 50 minutes tonite.

It sure is HOT here !

Hi,

Enjoy your time away! And just as Harry said, you can always ask for different sides and things to keep your eating lc-friendly. It can also save a bit of money to shop for snacks at the supermarket instead of eating out and the bonus is you only get exactly what you want. :)

Are you kidding me? This is a cold front, compared to last week! Welcome to Texas, as they say.
But, I love it here, so I'm not complaining....
Hope you have a wonderful time on the River Walk!
