Hi,
Just wanted to let everyone know that today, I celebrate the date I began my low carb diet.
Its been a long journey, indeed.
I've had much encouragement from friends and family. I've strugled with weight loss, hair loss, and people thinking I was stricken by cancer, or had my stomach stapled.
WHY must the world believe that some things in life CANNOT be achieved without a little determination and true grit.
Doing the low carb thang has been a lifestyle change for me. I believe the unique idea I like about this type of diet is that I was hardly ever hungry. I did not have to count fat grams, or calories. When there was a problem with my carb count, I satisfied it with making my own low carb bread in my breadmaker.
All of these examples can be found at the beginning of my Jimmy Moore low carb blog challenge
HERE
(It seems that blogspot can only hold a certain amount of info on its server.. blah)
I've lost 35 pounds in all, down to about 129. I'd like to thank everyone for your support, and PLEASE keep on posting your comments.
I'm still watching my low carb intake and EXERCISING !!
Have a Blessed Day !

- 🌾 Welcome to My Low‑Carb Life As of January 2026, I’ve started a new chapter: I recently began the GLP‑1 Wegovy pill to help me get back on track with my weight‑loss goals. Life has thrown its share of challenges my way, and I’ve gained back some of the weight I once worked so hard to lose — so this is my reset moment. My journey began in 2008, when my doctor warned me about rising blood pressure and challenged me to lose ten pounds in three months. I ended up losing 26. By 2011, life had shifted again, and I recommitted to the low‑carb lifestyle that helped me feel strong and steady. And today, I’m still committed — just with new tools, new wisdom, and a whole lot more grace for myself. I live just outside New Orleans, deep in sweet Cajun Country, where we hunt, fish, “make groceries,” and enjoy the simple things. I exercise three times a week and practice relaxing on the off days. My immediate goal is to lose 15 pounds, and I’m focused on moving forward with intention and consistency. So pull up a chair and stay a spell — this blog follows my low‑carb journey, my Southern roots, and now, my Wegovy pill adventure.

Congrats, BayouBabe! :)
Very well done!
Do you have any specific plans re: your diet/exercise for the year to come? Are you now in full-on maintenance mode or do you have any other goals you wish to reach?
Personally, I'm at my goal weight but I'd still like to improve some of my dietary choices and get into better shape.
happy LC anniversary! You've accomplished great things and should be proud.
Thanks Harry & Oct. Big Easy on low carb is definitely a year round maintenance! I'm not so anal anymore counting specific carbs.. I generally KNOW what carbs get me in trouble and either exercise more, or just go with the flow. I do KNOW for a fact this Oct (orange season here in the Big Easy) I WILL be eating my daily satsuma. Fruit=sugar=carb. LOL. A very small satsuma, but something I year for.
Other goals I would like to reach, is to maintain my weight around 130ish, and continue to work out.. Exercise is the key. Water.. lots of water, to flush everything out.
I'd like to eat more veggies, just waiting for the fall crop to harvest.
Thanks for the great questions and words of encouragement :)
