About Me

🌾 Welcome to My Low‑Carb Life As of January 2026, I’ve started a new chapter: I recently began the GLP‑1 Wegovy pill to help me get back on track with my weight‑loss goals. Life has thrown its share of challenges my way, and I’ve gained back some of the weight I once worked so hard to lose — so this is my reset moment. My journey began in 2008, when my doctor warned me about rising blood pressure and challenged me to lose ten pounds in three months. I ended up losing 26. By 2011, life had shifted again, and I recommitted to the low‑carb lifestyle that helped me feel strong and steady. And today, I’m still committed — just with new tools, new wisdom, and a whole lot more grace for myself. I live just outside New Orleans, deep in sweet Cajun Country, where we hunt, fish, “make groceries,” and enjoy the simple things. I exercise three times a week and practice relaxing on the off days. My immediate goal is to lose 15 pounds, and I’m focused on moving forward with intention and consistency. So pull up a chair and stay a spell — this blog follows my low‑carb journey, my Southern roots, and now, my Wegovy pill adventure.

Be Wise.... Exercise !!

Well, I had NO weight loss last week. I should have known. I had a sick kid home on Friday (my usual workout day.) & did not even do an ounce of exercise this weekend.

When I weighed in, the guy at the gym would not even give me the 1/2 pound I thought I had lost ! LOL. So, lesson learned. even if I can't go to the gym, there is always SOMETHING I can do at home to exercise.

I have the kids home for TWO WEEKS Christmas break, AND the gym has less hours open because of the Christmas holiday, So I need to do some kind of exercise at home.... I know, woulda, coulda, shoulda... ;( I have only myself to blame.

For lunch today, I had three slices of bacon on wheat bread, lettuce and tomato. Tonight, I am fixing tuna fish and egg salad.

I watched the movie "7 Pounds, with Will Smith"... just feel so sad... VERY dramatic movie.

You can do an amazingly good work out at home and it doesnt rewquire you to have any equipment. Do compound exercise such as squats, dead lifts and push ups. Squats you can do leaning against the wall and pretend there is a chair behind your butt or you can actually put a chair. Dead lifts you can use water gallon or anything that has weight and oush ups is push up or modified one. You can also do jump jacks. i guarantee a 15 minutes of this intense exercise will do more for you than an hour of gym at times!

By the way, re the barbecue slaw-I forgot to say it's vinegar-based, not mayo-based. Anyway, have you thot of lowering carbs to lose versus depending on exercise?

I have not really thought of lowering carbs. I just try not to go over 60 carbs per day. Some days I'm lower than 60.

Whats working for me IS the exercise and the counting of the carbs, so I am doing it.

I only blame myself for not keeping up with the exercise.
